Cancer Shmancer

Well, this has been a pretty good week. I got semi-good news about my sister's cancer - that it is responding to the new treatment she's been having which is phenomenal since they didn't know if it would. The bad thing for her is that she'll have to endure treatments for the rest of her life; the good news is that it means containment and better quality of life for her and hopfully for much longer too.

Unfortunately I found out that one of my close friends also just got diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, however she's gotten better news this week as well than she had initially received. She's only 39 and has NO history of it in her family....she went into the doctor for BACK PAIN and came out with breast cancer!!

What's up with that? Geeeezzzzz!

All of this cancer talk though made me want to go schedule my own mamogram! Not that I want to get one but who knows??

So, I called Kaiser Permanente and they said they won't approve me getting one until I'm 40! Or unless there's history in my family (and my sister is a step)!

We'll see about that when I go in there next week for my regular annual exam though and I raise bloody hell...

What if I have it now and it can be treated rather than wait until I'm 40 and who knows???

Frustrated and Furious....

Hi Katrina - I'm glad you're getting some good news. I'll continue to send positive vibes your way for your sister and friend! And for you, of course!

Take care,
BBL

Hi Katrina,

This is a new site that is helping raise money to offer free mammograms to women who would not be able to afford them. We sell gift cards, which are great for gifts, but can also be helpful in sticking to a budget (oh no, I've run out of my Starbucks allowance again!).

Here is the link:

If you want to post it on your page:

click "share our store on your site" and choose a button.

Thanks, Lindsey
