Skunked Again!!??!!


Well, it happened again....my little, innocent (big, old and dumb) Zekey ran into a skunk in the yard and LOST!


This happened about 11 months ago and I know I wrote about it on my blog here but for some reason I couldn't find the posting I did...it was pretty hilarious (after the fact of course).
THE GOOD THING: is that I learned something from that last experience!

THE BAD THING: is that it happened again in the middle of the night, in the rain, on the night before Christmas Eve!

The story....

So, Zeke and I were all tucked into our beds at 1:15 am, me watching a bit of the tube trying to fall asleep when Zeke decided he had to do one last trip (if you know what I mean).

It was raining, I was tired. I let him out and waited by the door and upon his return - head tossing, licking and spitting - I opened the door not thinking...and whoa!!! Got a big whiff!! (this smell does NOT leave your nose I tell you for days!!)


Since I'd learned my lesson the last time (and NOT to drag him through the house to the shower with tomato juice - doesn't work AND it stinks up your house!), I immediately pushed him back out into the rain and cold and shut the door!
Unforuntately I didn't take off my nightshirt right then and there and leave it out with him then to go wash my hands....

Instead I ran through the house (since the smell had already permeated it - can you believe it? In 10 seconds!!), grabbing fabreeze, spraying and then running to my computer to find out "What was that concoction people recommended that I DIDN'T USE last time but they said worked??".

Ah Ha!!
  • Hydrogen Peroxide (they said a whole gallon but I only had 16 oz.
  • Baking Soda (luckily I had a small box)
  • Dish detergent

Ok, so they said this stuff would fume up and possibly expolode on me so yet another thing to worry about....

I put on my worst sweats from head to toe, tied up my hair and couldn't find any rubber gloves so I put big ziplock bags around my hands fastened with rubber bands at the wrist ;0) because this time...... "I" WAS NOT GOING TO STINK TOO!!!

I mixed the concoction, grabbed a couple dark beers (cuz some said to use baking soda and beer! Who knows but I was going to try anything.), a huge stack of towels and ventured outside to scrub down the dog (in the rain mind you!) on the back patio.

He was hiding in the garage - OH NO!! THE CAR!!!???!! (it was ok....I got him in time)

We both didn't have much fun through this part and I probably got my cold back I'd just gotten rid of but oh my gosh, this stuff worked!!!

The smell was pretty much gone!! Off Zeke at least, it was still in THE HOUSE!!!

I hosed him off (he hates that), dried him and hoped for the best that he wouldn't stink all night in my bedroom because at this point I couldn't smell anything BUT SKUNK! So it was really hard to tell what stunk and what really didn't or if the smell was just in my nose at this point.....not too bad for an hour, that's all it took this time!

It's morning now and I've washed everything I can, opened up the house in 40 degree weather with the heater blasting, burned inscence and it seems to be relatively clear.

Although Scott will be the test with his nose when he comes over tomorrow....it's a good thing I'm not entertaining for the holidays huh??? I very well could have been, that would've sucked for sure!

Well, the saga continues....watch out for those skunks this time of year!!

I wanted to show you my Zeke all ready for Christmas with his cute Santa bandana! He just turned 10 last month - doesn't he look great! And now that I'm giving him this new Kangen Water that I bought (the system), he's got more energy than ever - my pet sitter even commented "what have you been feeding him?". (Ask me about the water, it's awesome!)

"Why Wait?"

Do you have dreams that aren't fulfilled?

Passions that never get expressed?

  1. You have more money

  3. Your kids grow up and move out
  4. You get out of that bad relationship

You simply have to DECIDE what you want and then TAKE ACTION and go for it!

Make moves towards what you want.

Believe you've already achieved it.

Believe and live like it is your 'truth' NOW, not someday.

It's more than just positive thinking, affirmations and setting intentions or goals; it's about taking meaningful action towards what you want.

'The Secret' is just that, a secret, especially if you keep it in and don't do anything about it.

You don't have to know HOW it will happen.

You don't have to know what is next.

You don't even have to know the answers, plan ahead or calculate results.

You simply have to GET MOVING towards that dream, those passions and the result will be A HAPPIER YOU!!!

"Why a Membership Business Model Might be Right for You" , Part 2

Other types of membership programs and websites you might be familiar with and that could be potential business models you could 'model after' for additional sources of income include:
Netflix - it's an online membership where you have access to unlimited movies for one price and your ccard is automatically charged.

  • Music download sites
  • Monthly book clubs
  • Monthly wine clubs
  • Coaching programs such as mine
  • Programs for special industry related materials such as Pre-Paid Legal, financial sites, business development
  • Associations or organizations online such as honeste.com, Information Marketing Assoc.

    There are many reasons you could create a membership site and you don't even have to create one that has to do with your expertise either!

    Be careful just going to the internet and doing a search about membership sites and trying to learn that way because I did that before writing this and there is sooo much info out there; you really don't want to waste money on the stuff that doesn't work.

    I have friends that teach this stuff - how to set up a membership site; something more than just a continuity program (I can teach you that stuff - how to do it the right way!). You can contact me if you'd like their information and then you'll be learning from a trusted source I know for sure.

One important thing to note when trying to start up a membership site or program is to remember to install the following systems or software PRIOR TO DOING ANYTHING, trust me:

  • You want to have a shopping cart set up on your site to take recurring payments - don't try to set up the billing yourself or do pay pal
  • You want to have a professionally designed website so you look more authentic and credible - no one will pay you if you look amateur
  • You need to have automated processes and systems set up for when people join, respond to emails, for login purposes, etc. because the beauty of having a model like this is TO MAKE YOU MONEY WITHOUT SPENDING A TON OF TIME!!!

"Why a Membership Business Model Might be Right for You" , Part 1

Over the last couple years I've found out about a whole new business model that's one of the most ingenious models I've seen yet - memberships.

You put up a website, offer a bunch of valuable content on a particular topic and maybe offer monthly information in one form or another as well (spending a couple hours a month ...maybe...) and then you market the site and watch people become subscribers and pay you for your information!!

It's absolutely amazing!!

I know a ton of people doing membership sites and there are a few different types even that I'm probably not even aware of yet because I'm even still learning about them.

I have had one (my Silver Mentor Program) for a couple years now but this is more of what they call a 'continuity program', although it is a membership and people pay to be a member. This is a lower level, affordable type of introduction to me so to speak program designed to give members a taste of how I coach and information I can give in order to hopefully move up into other products and services that I offer.

"16 Crucial Must Haves for your site" - Part 2



After you find the right web designer (which unfortunately most of us do not the first time around), then you need to also make sure they agree with and/or are aware of the following 16 Crucial Must Haves for your site (otherwise, keep looking ok?).




Your website should:
1. Be easily found on the search engines
2. Increase your traffic to your site
3. Increase your conversions (people who visit your site that sign up on your list)
4. Be updated regularly with new exciting, keyword rich content
5. Be professionally designed and maintained (and NOT by YOU!)
6. Be built with the user in mind
7. Increase your exposure in your local area or nationwide
8. Have the functionality that your users need and want
9. Be extremely attention getting on every page, especially the home page
10. Have a way for visitors to sign up on your list in order to build your database
11. Provide free resources to keep visitors coming back
12. Provide links and content that generate interest and repeat visits
13. Continue to build your relationship with your visitors, clients and prospects
14. Have an easy way to contact you
15. Tell your story and why you're doing what you're doing
16. Allow people to trust you and get to know you
17. Do 100 Million other things too...but you'll have to contact me to find out more!

There is so much more to building an effective website which is why I write and teach about it a lot so if you're in the market for a new one now or know it's time to update your current site, I'd urge you to check out the service that I created just for this planning purpose - so you only have to redesign your site ONE more time....

"16 Crucial Website Must Haves" - Part 1

This information was sparked by Ali Brown's Online Success Blueprint Workshop when she was talking about ideas of things to talk about in your ezines; I came up with this topic idea because every client that coaches with me either needs a new website or we need to update their current site - EVERY ONE! So, take a good look at your site for some of these...



Why does it matter who you choose to design your website or redesign the one you have?

Because all web designers are NOT created equal!

What I've found over the last 6 years of business is:
  • 95% of the web designers out there are NOT sales and marketing focused (which means they will NOT be able to help you figure out the best ways to present or write your site in order to get the best results from your target market)

  • 99% of them do NOT offer a content editor/manager (which is crucial for us entrepreneurs to be able to get in and make our own changes in the middle of the night, etc. - most simply don't have access to that kind of technology)

  • Many of them do NOT help you figure out how your website will flow with the rest of your marketing, networking, follow up, direct mailing, speaking, selling, etc. (which means it may not end up helping you to fill your funnel)

  • 97% of them don't have any idea what an opt in box is!!!! (this is astounding to me!)
Now, I'm not trying to rag on web designers out there; I refer to a few all the time and frankly I have many web designers come to me as clients so they can learn this stuff and become more effective with their clients and that's fabulous because that means there will be more marketing educated designers out there eventually.

"Get New Business from Your OLD Leads and Contacts"


This information was sparked by the Info Summit's A-Z Day on How to Create Info Products basically. (You do know I can help pull your info product out of you right? I do this for clients every week; we figure out ways for you to make money online, via email or over the phone, etc. by turning your knowledge, expertise, advice and resources into Information Marketing Products, Programs and Services like mine!)
I'm not copying what they gave us here because it's copyrighted but I'll summarize and give you my advice.

You see I run into this problem with almost every new client. You always seem to have a master database (or mailing list) full of people you haven't contacted in a very long time or a stack of business cards and contacts on your desk/in your office that you collected within the last year or more.

I know that data entry is an extremely daunting task and pretty much no one likes to do it (except some crazy Virtual Assistants or admin types out there which is why you want to delegate this to THEM!) so either it doesn't get done (ever) which means no one gets 'mailed' any follow up or marketing matertials or the data entry might get done but 99 out of 100 times no one follows up enough!

Therefore, these leads become cold or old, right? Meaning they have forgotten who you are for the most part.

  • Some of you may think it's ok to simply add them to an email newsletter list now that you're finally getting around to doing one, right? WRONG!!!!!
  • Some of you decide to mail them, but what do you mail them? A sales flyer, brochure or promotional message to get them to buy now or call you, right? WRONG!!!!!
    Some of you simply do nothing and wonder why THEY AREN'T COMING TO YOU, right? DUH!!!!!
  • Sorry, but you do need an effective follow up system - you can put one in place right now! (see my products section on the sidebar to get my Ultimate Marketing Follow Up System!)

Then you can develop a mail and email (opt in email) campaign (yes, a campaign, meaning more than ONE attempt!) to reintroduce yourself to your list of contacts and start rebuilding that relationship with them again. But ONE attempt will NOT work, you know that right?

And the goal is NOT to sell them in this reintroduction, you know that right?

Your goal should be to get them on your email newsletter list for one - send them to your website to opt in! (What? You don't have an opt in box on your website that's easy to find and submit???? Oh no....well, now what are you going to do? This is crucial, get on this!)

Sounds easy huh? But are you doing this effectively? Do you want to? Do you want to transform your website into a lead generating machine and your follow up marketing system into a sales and cash register?
