The Power of Passion - The 9 Questions to Ask Yourself

I'll be finishing up with Step 7 & 8 of Building Your Online Information Marketing Business next week but this week I saw an article in Pink Magazine while on the plane that's quick and to the point on something that I find is really lacking in many business owners today....PASSION for what they're doing.

Check it out - Kat

"The Power of Passion - The 9 Questions to Ask Yourself"

Want to follow your passion but don't know where to start?

Joey Reiman, the father of "ideation," suggests these nine questions to help you discover your inner fire:

  • Do you have a job, a career or a calling?
  • If you received $50 million, what would you do?
  • What do you love?
  • What is your strength?
  • What makes you smile?
  • What do you dream about doing?
  • What would get you out of bed in the morning?
  • Are you living your dream or someone else's?
  • What will be written on your tombstone?

And career coach Monica Parker adds six more strategies for uncovering your passion:

  • Take note of things that pique your interest, such as conversations you overhear.
  • List your talents
  • Listen to your secret fantasies
  • Keep a journal on the life you want to live, and what your ideal day looks like
  • Brainstorm with trusted friends about what you're good at
  • Remember your childhood career dreams

Note from Kat:
I like to discuss many of these with each and every client I work with regardless of what they do or want to do because without passion and purpose in your life and complete happiness too - who cares how much money you're making, right?

Are you with me?

So, if you're not already truly living your life full of passion, purpose, clarity and happiness then I would suggest doing the following 2 things immediately (seriously, why drag it on any longer??):

  • Attend my friend Baeth Davis' Life Purpose Spirituality Summit June 4-7 in Vegas. http://handanalyst.com/katrinasummit I will be there to fine tune my own purpose and passions because this is a lifelong process BUT it's also a great place for some heavy-duty networking so join me!!

  • Coach with me, plain and simple. I can help you develop your hidden passions or even ones you're already working with to figure out how to better monetize them; enjoying more free time than ever before while also building your income to much greater levels....all with ease!
I'll talk to you soon!!

What do you have planned this summer?

I'm curious. How many of you view the summer months as a time to kick back, relax, and do just enough business to get by? Is it by choice...or is it because you find your business slows down in the summer months?

I ask because I'm intrigued by the new teleclass Millionaire Entrepreneurial Coach Ali Brown is hosting. It's called "Ali's Top 10 Recommendations to Kick-Up Your Revenues This Summer!"

Ali believes it doesn't matter what else is happening in the world around you, if you want to grow your business, you will. In fact, it was over a summer when she took her business from the low 6-figures to breaking 7-figures.

Here's the link if you want to check out her teleclass and sign up.

But don't forget to leave a comment. I really want to know - are you planning on growing your business this summer, worried you won't be able to grow your business, or are you planning on taking it easy?

Ali is one of my mentors, I coached with her when I was getting my online info product business started for two years and now I'm on target for mid-6 figures this year.

"Is This Online Information Marketing Business Model Right For You? - Step 5"

Now is NOT the time to sit around in your business holding on to your wallets and sitting frozen on what to do next. It's time to develop new streams of revenue, find new ways for your current customers to buy more and look at possibly targeting a different market as well - ones that HAVE money to spend.

In these series of articles I'm writing, I want to specifically talk about the 8 Steps to Starting Your Own Online Information Marketing Business. Because this is by far one of the only types of businesses out there that is still generating millions of dollars and doing it via the internet (so you can make more and spend less time).

We know millions of people are still spending money. The question is how do you get a piece of that pie?

Step 5 in this process is Setting Up Your Systems. (no not the sexiest of steps, I know)

You see if you figure out what you want to sell and just go out there and try to sell it but you bypass the part about setting up the systems and automation then you're defeating the purpose of doing an information marketing business in the first place. Because you'll be running around trying to manage and process the orders manually wasting a bunch of your time and money if you don't set up the business the right way FIRST.

So, what do you need to set up exactly?

  • What will your processes consist of?
  • How will you get new prospects to enter your 'funnel' or website?
  • Then what is the process you want to take prospects once they're on your list, through your products and services?
  • Which parts of this should you automate through your shopping cart?

Which parts will have to be done manually and who's going to do what?
Now, this isn't something I can cover in one article I'm afraid. But I will tell you that this part is CRUCIAL to your success.

Think about it this way:

If you do get an opt in box on your website and people sign up for your ezine and free whatever yet you don't have a plan for where you want to send them next via email autoresponders (that can be prewritten and set up to launch once they sign up) or your ezine call to action....they probably won't buy anything right?

People don't typically take the initiative on your website. People are busy and if you don't SHOW THEM EXACTLY what you want them to do next, they'll move on to something else (for the most part).

Yes, you could have a really fabulous website and people could love to read it (as they do mine) but if you aren't funneling them to specific pages on that site where you want them to go to buy a specific product or sign up for a specific teleclass or whatever, they won't necessarily find their way on their own.

So, setting up the process in which you want to take new visitors through your marketing funnel is really important but 9 times out of 10 I see entrepreneurs missing this step all together.

You're either too busy yourself. You think "ok, my website is finally up, whew, I can relax now." Or you think "I have my ezine running every month or every other week, whew, I can relax now, now the sales will start coming in."

Nope, that doesn't happen. You have to 'MARKET' your website and what you have to offer. And there are so many ways to market your site, I'll cover a few key ones next week.

So for setting up systems there are things you need to do such as:

  1. Write really compelling copy on your website in the first place (it's rare that I see good copy these days by the way, get help if you need it - ask me how!)

  2. Write really compelling autoresponders, and many of them; all with call to action on the next step

  3. Write down the processes for everything you're doing, from getting a new visitor to your site, who will send out the initial responses to new subscribers or new contacts you meet in person, who will send out the mailed responses to these folks? These lists or processes that you write down become your SYSTEMS and once you have written systems, you can delegate them!

  4. Think and plan ahead for how a customer will experience your website, the process of buying a product or service, etc. For example, what if they buy a product but you forget to send them to a thank you page and don't send them an autoresponder? You could lose the customer or they may want a refund because they aren't confident that you'll deliver if you aren't even communicating with them about their order in any way? Plus you could even make more per sale if you take the opportunity to upsell them right when they're buying the first thing?

Now, these 4 things you want to do actually could turn into 400 things quick depending on how many products or services you offer and what your overall goal is with your website and business!

So, don't skip this step or you'll get so far behind the 8-ball so to speak that one year or more into your business you will be lost and overwhelmed by all that has to get done to catch up -- so stop and do this stuff now.

There are 3 more steps to starting your own Online Information Marketing Business and so I will bring you more later.....

Want my help with all this?

This is one of my SPECIALITIES....SETTING UP THE SYSTEMS, AUTOMATION, STRATEGY behind it all, etc.!

Now IS THE TIME to take action in your business. It's time to think bigger, dream bigger, make bigger goals and take bigger leaps of faith in order to truly get the business and life of your dreams.

10 FREE, Creative, Low-Cost Marketing Tips, #10

This is tip #10 of my top 10 FREE creative, low-cost marketing tips. These are tips I give small business owners and entrepreneurs on a daily basis when I see them out at networking functions. These 10 things will be the least expensive and probably the most effective forms of marketing that you could do to promote your small business.

Never base your advertising decisions on what YOU do, take yourself out of the picture and think like your customer and what they would generally do. Always ask pertinent questions of any media before buying it such as “What is their circulation or reach” and “How do they market themselves or how is their medium distributed”. Research all your options first, figuring out which ones reach your target market the best, then evaluate their cost per thousand. I can put together an Advertising Plan for you so you know where to and NOT to spend your money!
That was the last tip in my series of 10 FREE, Creative, Low-Cost Marketing Tips. If you would like to print out the article you can download it here.

Follow up, Follow up, Follow up with everyone you meet and ask them what their business is all about and how could you work together to promote each other? You need to develop a system for this so it gets done. Whether it’s add them to your mailing list and mail to them once a month, add them to your email list if they opt-in and email them weekly or calling them, stopping by or faxing them on a monthly basis to keep in touch. Having a system or guideline written down that you can follow easily each month is the key. I can help you put together an effective and efficient, low cost follow up marketing system that’s easy to follow!

This is tip #3 of my top 10 FREE creative, low-cost marketing tips. These are tips I give small business owners and entrepreneurs on a daily basis when I see them out at networking functions. These 10 things will be the least expensive and probably the most effective forms of marketing that you could do to promote your small business

Networking is the cheapest form of advertising you can do – find organizations, associations, chambers, groups and monthly meetings that have attendees and members that fit your unique target market client or referral source and visit them first, then join if you see the value. The key to networking is frequency. You need to go to the organization’s events that you join each month for greater visibility, to be recognized and ultimately to be the go-to person for your particular industry.

Where do you find the best place to network?

"Is This Online Information Marketing Business Model Right For You? - Step 4"

Because this is by far one of the only types of businesses out there that is still generating millions of dollars and doing it via the internet.

We know millions of people are still spending money. The question is how do you get a piece of that pie?

Step 4 in this process is All About Logistics.

  • Business Basics
    • You really should consider getting a business license even though you're selling online
    • You should definitely get a business bank account, don't mix personal and business funds
    • You may need business cards if you network out in person
    • You must have a website and web presence - professionally designed mind you or at least a blog to get you started (depends on type of business!)
    • Start putting everyone you know into a contact database into the computer. Do this right away or pay someone to do it but if you wait it will be way too big of a chore. Start with an Excel spreadsheet if you want, it doesn't matter in the beginning; you don't need any fancy software right off the bat.
  • Technology
    • Since you'll be selling online, you'll want to get a shopping cart hooked up to your website (I recommend 1ShoppingCart.com) I don't recommend PayPal typically because the customer's information is then stored on their site, not yours and they don't accomodate for recurring charges and billing which you'll need most often.
    • You'll need a merchant account company, this can be your bank too but this is the liason between your shopping cart and your bank account. (I recommend PracticePaySolutions.com as one option, I have others too.)
    • I also recommend signing up for an online data backup system because you never know when your computer might freak out and you don't want to rely on backing up yourself or it won't get done! (I recommend Mozy.com)
  • Outsourcing
    • I do recommend you hire a bookkeeper as soon as possible to manage your sales and Quickbooks, it's much easier starting with one right away so your books don't get out of hand.
    • I do recommend you hire a Virtual Assistant to handle any of the technology or shipping aspects of running your business right from the start otherwise you will spend too much time on that stuff (web changes, processing orders, fullfilment, blog updates, some social networking, etc.). You never want to do anything (even in the beginning stages) that you don't like to do, don't know how to do or that someone else can do much faster or cheaper than you can. Think about what your time is worth?

Now, granted there is way more to set up but these are the basics; I'll get into much more detail next week!

Want my help? Take my Free Biz Quiz on my website and answer some quick questions about the type of life you want to live and the products and services you want to sell.

There are 4 more steps to starting your own Online Information Marketing Business and so I will bring you more later.....

Now IS THE TIME to take action in your business. It's time to think bigger, dream bigger, make bigger goals and take bigger leaps of faith in order to truly get the business and life of your dreams.

Recap of the Experience the Reality of Success Seminar in Vegas

OMG, can I just say, every time I attend one of David Neagle's Experience the Reality of Success seminars I grow by leaps and bounds in my own skin, even more into my purpose and I'm totally in what I call "THE ZONE" in my business when I'm there.

Not only that but there's some huge surprises - like meeting Ivanka Trump!!! Wow, she was a great speaker; I couldn't believe how down to earth she was and so smart for only 27 yo.

It's so hard to describe what you go through, what the experience is like and what kinds of amazing people you'll meet when you attend one of his events....you just have to go. So if you've never been and you're a somewhat (or very much so) spiritually minded entrepreneur (or wanna be entrepreneur) then you must, must, must attend.

I even took my BF Scott and he doesn't even own a business...but it opened his eyes a lot to what was possible!! We had a ball....

Here's a bunch of other pictures too of some of my friends, fans and even Facebook friends!!

Not only will YOU make some huge shifts in your awareness and your mindset but with all the different types of people that attend his events - you may even walk away with new clients! (I always do.) I say this last part because I know many of you right now are soooo concerned with where and how you're spending EVERY DOLLAR YOU HAVE and it's important for you to realize that many times you go to events like this for your own spiritual or business growth that you can also get a return on your investment!

Am I right?

I can obviously help you figure out how to get the most out of your event experience no matter which event you may be attending or want to attend.

But it's not all about the money is it?

It's about complete and utter happiness in my mind. Having the kind of life that is filled with great business connections, clients, opportunities but also having the love of your life, family and time for yourself.

THIS IS WHAT HAVING IT ALL MEANS TO ME.

So, while you always want to be monetizing what you're doing, you want to be the best person you can be too in the process.

That's why when I'm out at events or even speaking or networking in my local area - my goal is to give as much as I can while I'm there. Give of my time, give of my advice, give of my connections and resources and give whatever I have or know about that anyone I come in contact could need.

You've got to give to get and the more you give the more you get...who's with me? Can I hear an AMEN?? ;0)

So my question to you is:

Where and what exactly are you giving?

Or are you just expecting or waiting to get?

I would imagine no one reading my blog is the latter......but if you are, good luck to you!

Let's all give and spend more and what do you know....I'll bet the economy turns itself around....you think? ;0)

So, enough of that rant....let me know what you're thinking!

Oh and if you have a great idea for a business you want to start or you're struggling in your current business and can't figure out a plan to get unstuck or move to the next level......

Then go take my F.R.E.E. Biz Quiz on my website and I'll respond to you PERSONALLY right away and I may even give you your next MILLION DOLLAR IDEA!!

GO TO www.JumpStartYourMarketing.com/quiz now and fill it out!

Talk to you soon,

-- Kat out
