Email Marketing...Not as Reliable as it Used to Be

It used to be that you could send an email newsletter out or some kind of email announcement to your subscriber list and the majority of them would get it and open it.

If you've been marketing via email for a while you probably remember those days.

However, these days things are a whole lot different. Not only do you have to have a loyal following of prospects and contacts who love you and what you have to say but you can't just get their attention with any regular old email newsletter anymore. They require so much more since their attention is split in thousands of different ways, especially in their inbox.

So, what do you do?

How do you stand out and get your email opened much less responded to?

Well, to be honest, I can't solve that problem for you. People just have way too many emails coming in, including myself, and just like the fact that they are more selective on where they spend their valuable dollars, they are also just as selective on which emails they open and read; society is just too overwhelmed with email.

So, what you do about it is you DO other types of marketing in conjunction with whatever you already did via email. You make sure first that you're already sending enough email....at least 2-4 times a month you're touching your list via email.

Then as I've been saying all along (and practicing myself) you implement direct mail campaigns, phone calling strategies a few times a year and more in person connecting when possible.

Social media and online networking is great but it's not the same as what I'm talking about, that's an entirely different marketing strategy you want to have in place as well. So, if you're doing that and saying "I'm ok" then no, you're not; you need to do that as well as this.

Today's world is all about Interactive Follow Up, not just blasting info at your peeps.

Figure out how to be more interactive with your list, prospects and clients and you'll see much higher sales come through faster.

Are You Ready to Find out the Easiest 2 Ways to Increase Your Revenue?

Ok, I've done this myself, I've seen it done by my friends and peers and I've recommended this to clients many times with HUGE SUCCESS!

It's actually very simple.

1. RAISE YOUR RATES

2. OFFER PAYMENT PLANS FOR YOUR PRODUCTS OR SERVICES

I had a client come to me a few months ago who was charging way under market value for her services and I basically told her to suck it up and increase her rates by 400%!! Yes, I told her to raise her rates by 5 times what she was charging clients now. She almost fell off her chair (I think, as we were on the phone).

This new rate was actually the going rate for what she was doing. In fact I am paying someone to do it in my business right now every month!

And this week, a new potential client was doing a Strategy Session with me and this was the main thing I mentioned to her as well to do now to increase her income. She couldn't believe it since it was hard for her to get clients in the first place.

You know what it comes down to though is our own self-worth, right? We don't either believe we are worth 'that much' or we don't believe others will pay 'that rate'. Well, that's not YOUR problem to worry about, it's theirs and the world is a big place and there are PLENTY of the right people who will pay what you are worth IF you buck up and charge what you're really worth!

So, this client of mine; if she takes my advice, she could literally increase her income by FIVE TIMES with no more work!

It could be that simple if you are not charging enough OR if your perceived product or service value is a lot higher than what you are charging. If you don't know what your value is or what the going rate is - ASK ME PLEASE. I see a lot of different businesses every month and I know how to get you these answers.

As for payment plans; myself and many peers of mine in the info-product industry (selling online products and services) find that we get a lot more orders and purchases if we offer payment plans - especially OUTRAGEOUS PAYMENT PLANS such as 18 payments of $19.95 or something like that. I do this for some of my products and services even if delivery of those products or services is well before their last payment due date and all of the payments are made online of course too by automatic payment which is the key. You don't want to go trying to collect checks after the fact, that's for sure.

Typically you could offer 1-5 payments spread 30 days apart if you're selling something over $1000 or even for something sold at $500 ($100 monthly payments makes it sound a whole lot easier right?). Now don't forget to pad the payments again for admin processing fees, etc. and to give them incentive to pay up front too you definitely want to charge more for the opportunity to make payments.

If you should need some advice on how to make this adjustment in your business either mentally, physically or technologically - ASK ME PLEASE. I love to support small business owners with this kind of expansion and going to the next level. Plus, there are many things that can go along with doing these things in your business that you want to incorporate as well, especially in a responsible and respectful way.

The thing is, most small business owners and entrepreneurs say that they take their business seriously or work 16 hours a day to try to prove it, yet they don't take the NECESSARY STEPS needed, only the ones that feel 'comfortable' to take at the moment.

So, how are you different?

Will you be one of the 6% of the US population that works smarter, not harder, and makes over $100,000 this year?

Or will you remain one of the 94% of entrepreneurs who don't reach for more and revert back to what's comfortable, reachable or seeable?

8 Reasons to Add Teleclasses in Your Marketing

1. To use it as a lead generator or "hook" to get people interested in your services or products.
2. To keep in touch with your current client or prospect database.
3. To upsell current clients into new or additional services or products.
4. To provide extra value to your clients or prospects in regards to your products and services.
5. To be seen as more of an expert in your industry or field.
6. To use as a way to co-promote with other complimentary businesses to both of your lists in order to refer business to each other.
7. Because it can be a FREE and easy marketing touch that you add to your overall marketing plan.
8. To record and develop into an infoproduct you can sell.

I think those are definitely enough positive reasons to start doing teleclasses yourself.

Here's 4 Easy Steps on How to Use Teleclasses in your Marketing:

1. Plan and Promote it - plan any guest speakers, topics, dates and promote it in your networking, emails, mail, to your affiliates and online (don't forget all those social networking sites too!).

2. Outline Call Script - this is important so you keep on topic, time and are organized in your presentation or interview. Don't have too much you want to cover, keep it simple. Opening it up for Q&A at the end too is also a great way to interact with your audience.

3. Sell Yourself - remember to add in some trial closes, offers, bonuses and call to action to get them to do something to action towards buying your products or hiring you. Set up a special landing page to send listeners to with your special offer.

4. Follow Up - follow up with recordings of the calls if you want to give registrants the link in case they can't make it live (you'll get more signups!), ask for the sale again, provide easy buying links, take them to the next step and ask for referrals.

What's a V.I.P. Coaching Day Like?

Today I want to share with you a little about why some of us do V.I.P. Coaching Days (with others AND as a business model for ourselves)....

As a small business owner who is doing much of my business 'online' or world-wide; it's important to have multiple streams of income set up which means multiple business models in place in my business to support that.

Many people talk about multiple streams of income and I'm NOT referring to a network marketing company, direct sales, MLM or downline model here.

I'm talking about positioning yourself as the EXPERT in your field for helping people through what you teach, sell or coach about.

Not everyone is cut out for this type of business; it takes a lot of self confidence, courage, faith and taking decisive action. However if you have that, you can do this (or anything you choose really) and you can literally charge what you want because the right people will pay.

Now, it's not about charging so much it's astronomically priced for the value you receive; yes, when you charge much more than others, you want to deliver great value. (but that doesn't mean you have to give more of your TIME)

Now V.I.P. Coaching Days is ONE of these multiple business models you could choose to add to your business (or your funnel of offerings); you may not do it right off the bat but you can sure lead up to it at some point if you 'feel' it's a good fit for how you like to teach/coach and how your ideal clients like to learn/buy.

Most people I know charge anywhere from $5,000 - $25,000 for the privilege of spending ONE whole day with them. (you can see how lucrative this can be!) It's not uncommon to charge on the lower end when you first start out, then once you start offering it to folks (and often times BEFORE you even sell one) you get the courage up to charge more. And it's easy to double or triple this in no time. (Unlike traditional pricing thoughts, raising fees a certain percentage little by little - you don't have to do it that way when you have the confidence and faith/belief that you are worth it.)

In 2009 I invested in two different coaches for their V.I.P. Days for different reasons; they had what I needed to know and I wanted to learn it from them FAST, not over time in their entry level group program or by reading their products which I knew I would never open if I bought.

In 2009 I also launched my own V.I.P. Day with Kat; but it wasn't until I actually paid for one myself that I then had the confidence to charge for one to my clients. (This is pretty common with all big investments in myself and my business, not only for me but for most entrepreneurs and mentors I know; often times you have to make the investment yourself before you believe you can do the same thing or believe you can charge more.)

Here are a couple recent pics from one of my VIP half days I have with my mentor this year, Lisa Sasevich of TheInvisibleClose.com. We met in her home in La Jolla, Scott was there too (he's so supportive) and then the four of us (with Lisa's husband Michael) went out for a long slow dinner over wine after. It was great fun and we got a lot accomplished.

So, if you're curious about HOW investing in a VIP Day with someone can help you, here are a few tips to think about:

What are your biggest challenges right now with your business (or life)? You want to find someone distinctly positioned to help you with this.
Who do you resonate with that is distinctly positioned to help you with this?
Who will make you STRETCH to your full potential?
How can you make this happen if you feel in your gut this is what you need? How can you find the money to invest whatever it is you need to invest to do this? (Never say "I can't afford it" or you'll be shooting yourself in the foot Universally Speaking.)

I'm traveling so much this year that I've decided to do something I've never done before...

I'm going to be setting up a few very limited 1/2 day Intensives with me when I travel to places - this is going to be great because no cost for you to travel to me or to pay for me to come to you AND we get to meet and brainstorm/plan in person instead of just over the phone.

Business Lessons from Church: "The 4 Characteristics of Radical Generosity"

Every once in a while I hear a message at church that that totally relates to life and business. This last week was one of those times.

The talk was entitled Radical Generosity; and while I soon figured out WHY the pastor named this week's talk with this title (the church was down donations and they needed to ramp up the funds!), it was interesting to watch.

He tied it all in to the bible of course and how Radical Generosity is not an offering, it's a lifestyle. I thought this was very interesting.

I realized that I live a lifestyle of being generous, but I also realized that many do not. I noticed what that meant for those in their lives, those who are not generous with what they have. More often than not those people rarely do not get what they want in life or business, they struggle more.

Regardless of where you are financially or how much money you have to give, you always still have something to give; you just may need to get more creative.

When I used to attend church years ago, I thought donations were just that, to help the church do good things and rarely did I give more other than in church except clothing and food donations when asked.

Now though I do make it a lifestyle and whenever it is that I'm called to give, I feel it in my bones, my gut and from a higher power. Now, I listen to that higher power when before I may not have noticed it or even ignored it if it told me too give more than I had planned.

Here is what I learned in church this week:

The 4 characteristics of living in "Radical Generosity"

• Enjoyable - you find yourself filled with joy whenever you give
• Supernatural - you don't stop at what you normally give, you give beyond your ability
• Enthusiastic - you want to give so bad sometimes you can't stand it
• Faithful - you make it a spiritual habit so that it becomes naturally inherent to give

So, how does this apply to your business?

Because if you don't give, you won't receive. I find that the more I give, the more I get but I don't get UNTIL I give.

Many people say "I'll give as soon as I make enough to provide for myself first" and that's fine but will you ever get there? Maybe not.

Have more faith in yourself and the Universe and give more this year, one way or another - see what happens!

Now whether you play small in business or your personal life, it all ends up the same way really....you ultimately don't get what you want.

Here are the 7 signs you may be playing too small in life:

1. You've chosen to settle for a life without passionate love
2. You're not happy in your job or doing what you're doing for work
3. You haven't taken a real 7+ day vacation in over 3 years
4. You can't remember the last time you bought something for yourself or treated yourself to something nice just because
5. You normally allow others to dictate or plan how you will spend your days off or down time
6. You wake up often with regrets or dreams still unfulfilled
7. The people you hang around with most tend to be more negative about things and are probably holding you back in one way or another

Instead why not take charge of your life, take control of your happiness and manifest the type of lifestyle you really want?

I'll bet what you really want deep down inside are things such as more:
