The 6 Signs You May Be Playing Too Small in Your Business

This information has been gathered through the many entrepreneurs I talk to on a monthly basis. There are hundreds and hundreds of small business owners out there thinking and playing way too small when they could literally be taking bigger leaps and jumps on their way to success.

We aren't conditioned to think this big when we're growing up. Our parents might encourage us to be doctors, lawyers or some other worthy profession but rarely do they ever even think about saying to us "You could be a multi-million dollar online business owner!". This just doesn't happen does it. This is because they weren't conditioned to think this big either; it's just how most of us grew up.

Luckily the budding entrepreneurs of the future and the younger generations today are starting to get a grasp on this concept early on; often times before their parents even know what's going on

Now it's time for YOU, the solopreneur, entrepreneur, home based business owner to learn what's possible for you and your business too.

But the information isn't just going to drop in your lap you know. You have to seek out information and mentors who can help you.

Here are 6 signs that you may still be playing way too small in your business (next week I'll get to 'your life'):

1. You haven't hired an assistant yet
2. You only accept one form of payment in your business
3. You are only focusing on what and who you can sell to locally
4. You don't invest at least $3000-$30,000 annually on your continued learning, training, workshops and mentors
5. You haven't raised your rates in well over a year (yes, even in the recession)
6. Your revenue goals for this coming year are 2-10% over what you did last year (if that)

How do you measure up?

I hope this does NOT describe you. But if it does, isn't it time to take your business by the horns and step it up and get some skin in the game?

Seriously, what are you waiting to happen....you think you're going to win the lotto?

You can totally transform your business into a smooth-running, money-making, passion-driven and freedom-based business if you really want to. You just need to pull up those big girl panties, gather up your confidence, have a little faith and take action.

If you want some guidance on what to do to transform your life or your business into a business that will sustain you for a long time and one that makes you want to get out of bed every day, then I suggest you hire a coach, mentor or enter into a program where you'll get some one-on-one coaching.

I have many different levels of programs for anyone's budget and level of expertise. I'm happy to discuss where might be a good fit for you in one of my Getting Acquainted Sessions, it's on me. All I ask is that you fill out my quick Biz Quiz online so I get a little more information about you first. - Go fill out the biz quiz now at www.jumpstartyourmarketing.com/quiz.

Tips on How to Build Your List From Your Website, part 2

Here are the last two tips on how to build your list from your website.

2. Develop an Email Marketing Campaign designed to use your ever-increasing database contacts. Remember, it is not enough to just add contacts to your list; you need to remind them about you often. Are you getting my email newsletters chock full of great marketing tips?

3. Develop Exceptional Copy for your Website. You will not retain the interests of your site visitors without great content, headlines, and informative yet easy to read text. In addition, if you are selling a product and/or service that is not available as a Web purchase, be sure to include separate sales pages for each product or service that you offer. If you struggle with writing good content to sell your product and/or service, hire a content writer. Remember, good writing is vital to the success of any Website!

Does this make sense? It really is not that difficult. The most difficult part is creating a Web site that is professional, functional and that is updated often to include these "must haves". This task is not normally something most people can do themselves. It can be a disservice to your business if you attempt to design your own site. This is not something that you should be doing - delegate it!

If you want more information on how to maximize the copy on your Web site, how to find a better Web designer, developer or hosting company, or how to launch an email campaign, contact me. I can help you to either do it, find someone I trust to do it right or to ensure your needs are taken care of.

Tips on How to Build Your List From Your Website

In my next few posts I am going to share with you some tips on how to build your list from your website.

Someday, wouldn’t you like to be able to work strictly by word of mouth and a referral system? Wouldn't it be nice to work less hours, while still earning more money? Your contact database is your most precious asset and is the key to helping you achieve these goals. Therefore, it is imperative that you increase the number of contacts within your database and use it to keep in front of those contacts regularly. This will ensure that when your contacts think about the product or service you offer, that YOU are on the top of their mind.

Tips on Building Your List from Your Web site

1. Add an Email Signup Form to the home page of your Website, as well as the other pages of your site. There should also be a link to an email marketing program such as the one that I am using, which automatically adds individuals to my mailing list when they sign up. There is no manual entry process necessary. This type of service makes it easy for visitors to add themselves to your list; however, you still must tempt them to sign up! One way to do this is to use a “give away”, such as a free report or resource offering that entices them to sign up. Be sure to steer clear of saying "sign up for our newsletter".
